Ghetto Rake

This week was pretty good! A few notable things but overall mellow week.

Tuesday we went out with Brother Dan who is an awesome ward missionary. We went out and tried to hunt down some names we hadn't been able to see. Not to much luck but it was fun! One thing that was a bit of a bummer was going into Tuesday we had 5 appointments set up. Which was awesome! And we were so excited! But then 4 of them fell through. The one we had remaining went really well! It was with an investigator we had been having trouble contacting and we finally got an appointment set up. When we got there we intended to teach the restoration and just see what she remembered from it, but the lesson derailed a little bit. Totally in a good way though. She had concerns about prayer. She felt like she was t getting answered. We just happened to have our ward mission leader with us who encouraged her to read the scriptures more and we promised that if she did, she would start receiving answers. Then, we read some scripture with her and she said she would read the Book of Mormon more! It was awesome.

Wednesday was good too! We had some iffy finding plans for the day but there was a member who needed help taking metal to the scrapyard. We had helped him before with the same thing and it was pretty fun! But we weren't able to get a hold of him so we though we would see if he was home. And he was! He said he was just fixin' to call us too so it was perfect timing and we went to the scrapyard with him and got some lunch and it was pretty fun! Wednesday night we got to play some basketball and there were a lot of nonmembers there so we got to talk to them which was pretty fun! They are always really confused when we introduce ourselves as the Elders but when we explain it, it is a great way to start talking about the gospel! So that is always good.

Thursday was pretty awesome too! We went to Mepkin in the morning and did service again. While we were there we saw a gator!  And luckily we brought our cameras so we took some pics of it and pics of the scenery. I'm the afternoon we went to visit with a less active member we have been working with and we had gotten permission from the bishop to invite him to bless the sacrament. We brought a member with us who is good friends with him and talked about the priesthood, then extended the invitation! And he said yes! So exciting!!!!! Then usually on Thursday's we have Book of Mormon class. But it was cancelled tonight at the last minute. And we didn't have plans. But! Luckily, one of our neighbors who spans met with before, invited us over for dinner! He isn't a member but we both got a distinct impression not to push any gospel conversation, and before we left to invite him to take a church tour. So that's what we did and it went really well and we got a church tour set up! Which I think will be awesome. I've offered like 100 but this is the first time someone has said yes! I'm pumped.

Friday was pretty fun! We had apartment inspections in the morning and we passed (#miracles). Then in the afternoon we had zone conference which was really good!! We got to see president and Sister Turner, as well as the zone leaders, and the assistants which is always awesome. Plus, the trainings were super uplifting and helpful. We came back ready to go! On top of that, there was a youth baptism with some awesome members on Friday night and it was so awesome to see!  Saturday we started off with some service which was awesome. We were raking a less active member's yard with the sisters and we were short on rakes. But no fear, I made a pretty ghetto looking rake out of an old rusted rake head and a piece of a pipe that was laying around haha. Regretfully, I did not take a picture of it.

Then most of Saturday afternoon was spent planning which was pretty good! Saturday night we set out to see some for,we investigators. There was one house where a guy came outside with a big pistol and said apologized but said he was weary of people knocking so late. It was like 7:30 haha. But he was super nice and we got to talk to him for a minute which was fun.

Cheesy Grits

Sunday was awesome as always. We got to partake of the sacrament and promise to  try and be a little better this week. Sunday evening we went out and tried to visit with an investigator and we did! But man, can southern folk talk. We were there for a while haha. And to round out our week, we made grits for dinner! Delicious as always. I love you all and miss you so much!!! Have a great week!
